I'm Susan Phillips.
I'm a lifelong resident of Chesapeake, VA. I'm a graduate of Great Bridge High School where I studied art for four years.
Upon graduation, I went on to continue my studies at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. I returned to Virginia
and my love for horses took me to North Carolina where I attended college in Williamston and earned an AAS Degree in
equine science, majoring in breeding and minoring in training. I also enjoy owning and showing two Aqha Quarter horses.
I was married in 2003 and struggled on the decision of whether to keep using my maiden name or my new name as my professional name in the art world.
In the end it wasn't really that hard, or I should say, it wasn't even a decision at all. I will now be using my married name. It was the right and
only way to go. My husband, Andy, supports me in everything that I do. I am a very lucky person. So my former and a few of my recent pieces of work carry my maiden name, Morgan. All my new pieces will now be signed S. M. Phillips.
After twenty five years of working in many diffrent mediums, including water color and oils, I have found a love for graphite and colored pencils.
I have traveled abroad as well as across the United States. This has allowed me to see and study many art forms. This has also allowed me to photograph and watch animals in their natural settings, which I regularly apply to my work.
In my spare time, I love horseback riding, camping and fishing. I also enjoy spending time with my family, friends and my animals, Skipper and Missy my two quarter horses and my best buddy Bo my half Border Collie and close companion.
Both skipper and Bo you can meet in my art work on this web site as "Skipper's Smile" and "Bo's Nose."
As you can see I have a love of nature and animals which is where I concentrate my efforts.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read a little about me and hope you enjoy my work .
Thanks Again,
Susan
